The ancient Palazzo della Ragione is situated between Piazza dei Signori and the Courtyard of the Mercato Vecchio. We are now in the historic heart of our city.

The palace was the seat of the Municipality and hosted for a long time the District Court and the Court of Assizes.

This stately rectangular building houses a paved central courtyard. The complex was erected in the twelfth century and is located in the former Roman Forum. In 1218 the building was half destroyed by fire, was rebuilt and completed in 1219. Under the rule of the Republic of Venice the palace was used by courts, by the College of Notaries, and various other offices. In 1447 inside the courtyard and under the tower of Lamberti the Scala della Ragione was built on the side of the former Palazzo. In the quiet and refined atmosphere of the “Sale dei Capitani” it is possible to organize any events for up to 400 persons: romantic candlelight dinner, professional meetings, the presentation of a book or a vernissage.
